BabyCues-A Child's First Language

   
BabyCue Cards and Video helps parents and other caregivers to recognize and respond to a child’s behavioral cues. They can learn when their child is ready to interact and play, when they need to be reassured or when they need a break from an activity. Promoting Maternal Mental Health During Pregnancy materials were developed for use by individuals with health training and experience in the basic management of pregnancy. It is designed to assist in moving beyond the physical dimensions of pregnancy to the emotional and psychological challenges new parents experience. Toddler Attachment Sort -45

  • A new tool to measure the attachment characteristics of parent and child relationships.
  • Derived from known research scales and field tested on the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Birth Cohort sample of 8,750 2 year olds
  • For use with children aged 18 to 36 months.
  • Highly applicable for either clinical or research settings.
  • After a 60 - 90 minute observation scoring can be done in 10 minutes.

Keys to Caregiving Program

 

The Keys to Caregiving Program provides important information about infant behavior, how it impacts caregiving, and how it can help professionals translate this knowledge to parents. This program is designed to teach you about the competencies and capabilities of the newborn infant, their effect on caregiver-infant interaction, and ways to effectively share this knowledge with parents and other caregivers. Personal Environment Assessments (PEA)

The Personal Environment Assessments (PEA) include the Community Life Skills Scale, The Difficult Life Circumstances Scale, The Network Survey Scale and My Family and Friends - Teenage Version. These are a practical set of measures for systematically assessing the individual, family and environment in regards to the amount and type of difficult life circumstances, support, and community resources available. Research has shown that the families who have few difficult life circumstances, strong support networks and use community resources have healthier interactions with their children over time.   MORE . . .

Want to join our exclusive team of Instructors from around the world?

The PCI Instructor Workshop is a 6-day intensive workshop to prepare professionals for the role of training others in the NCAST Feeding & Teaching Scales and other supplementary NCAST programs. The workshop is typically held twice a year in Seattle, once in the Spring and again in the Fall. 

This workshop is designed for those professionals working with families with infants and young children who have a role in the ongoing training of community health care service providers in their local area. Those planning to use the PCI Feeding and Teaching Scales in research are encouraged to apply. Admission to the workshop is granted only upon permission from NCAST Programs.  MORE ....

TAS-45

Toddler Attachment Sort (TAS-45) is a brief observational tool with a software scoring system, developed in New Zealand by Dr. John Kirkland. It is used for measurement of attachment behaviors of parent/child (18-36 months) relationships in research projects and for guiding clinical work with families. Field tested on the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Birth Cohort sample of 8,750 two year olds.  Not yet released, date to be announced.

The Network Survey goes beyond simply gathering information and examines the type, amount and quality of supportive people in one's network to include degree of helpfulness.
